This is the second time our family has stayed at Wickiup. We really enjoy staying in these cabins and we just love the view. There are so many different things to do in this area, so you never get bored. The brook is very cold but fun to play in. Riding trails is another really fun thing to go do. There was so much wildlife to see. The fish hatchery in Spearfish was another good way to pass time. Overall, this place is one of the best places to be staying at on vacation.

Morris Family had a great time at Lakota Cabin. We had 30 people that came here to meet for Grandma’s 90th birthday. We enjoyed her birthday. And the family reunion. Some people we have not seen for 10 years. I am from the area but still enjoyed the scenery and relaxing. My sister and her boyfriend fished at Deerfield Lake, using worms caught some perch and trout. Hope you enjoy your stay here as well. Wishing you many blessings.

I am going to have an exciting day tomorrow with my Dad. I am going to get my ears pierced and probably eat at Red Lobster. I’ve enjoyed my time here at Lakota just as much as last time (which was a lot) and cant wait to come back on Labor Day for our family reunion. P.S. Say hi to Starla!
We recently were in North Dakota. I’m actually surprised that there wasn’t any snow in South Dakota. =)

The Lakota cabin was cozy and quaint; the staff who helped us were kind and answered any and all of our questions. The Wickiup location was superb; monuments are only an hour and half away while Deadwood and Lead are only minutes away. Ponds recommended to us by the staff were only up the hill and we ate several of the fish we caught! (Worms worked really well) They also recommended Blacktail Trail Rides, which was very fun and made it more exciting by the woman who runs it. In the cabin, we enjoyed card games and when it got cold, the stove furnace was great. We all survived with one bathroom but when the staff readily gave us new towels it made the experience even easier. The Wickiup staff and Lakota cabins made the beautiful Black Hills feel like home. Thanks for the wonderful experience!!

First day we got here, we unpacked and that was it. 2nd day we went tubing down the creek. Extremely exciting. Next day we went to the fish hatchery in Spearfish but before that we ate at Cheyenne Crossing. We went to the park, ate supper and then went to the campfire, roasted marshmallows and socialized. We had a good time in Lakota, hope to comeback next year.

What an awesome time here. Loved the sites, the people and the peacefulness. We did so many activities with the children and they are so not ready to go back home. The weather here is awesome and couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Loving it in South Dakota.

Our stay here was fabulous! South Dakota is beautiful! We have decided we like it better than Colorado. The people are very friendly and this cabin is a perfect get away. We will definitely be back. =)

A lovely place! Wickiup is a pleasant interlude in the craziness of life. The calming babbling stream, the warm cabins. Lakota's homey touch is comforting yet blends with nature. We have enjoyed the long weekend. The staff is friendly and helpful. Thankful for our experience.

Stayed here for a shorter drive to Devils Tower. Whole family loved it! Heading out to southern part of the Black Hills. Beautiful area here, loved the creek and the shared campfire. Hope to be back again.

As departees from Brookside as well, we found Lakota serendipitous, roomy and delightful. Our time at Wickiup was just the break we needed and we all leave with smiles on our faces ready to face the "real world." Thanks Stacy and Jackie for your hospitality. Can't wait to do it again!

Coming here reminds me of Laura Engle Wilder. My husband and I came here with our two children Tatym and Jude. We didn't want to stay in a hotel or eat anymore pizza, cheeseburgers or hot dogs. I love South Dakota, the people, Mountain side, and the rustic land. But it’s something one must seek out. This place is amazing and something our family needed dearly. I will come back but may only tell a few because I don't want it to turn into something crazy.

My husband’s family has been coming to Wickiup for over 50 years. He spent time in Brookside when he was 8. Now, our 8 year old, Ben, gets to enjoy tubing, fishing and hiking (Devil’s bathtub is AWESOME!) We all put away our phones and just spent time together. It was a very nice week!

Been staying at Wickiup for nearly 40 years, but haven’t been back in a while. Glad to be back, and its extra special this time as we celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary! This is the first time we’ve been able to bring our kids and they loved every minute. The Black Hills are a sacred place and we’re blessed to share in their majesty.

This was a bucket list trip for my mom, me and my son. We wanted to stay in a cabin in the hills near my brother in Lead. The setting, cabin, owners were great…everything we expected and more. Wish we would have had more time. We would come again.

We had a great time. There are trout in the creek and they taste pretty good. The creek does feel a little chilly (Your feet go numb in 5 seconds) but it felt very refreshing on a hot afternoon. We didn’t get to stay as long as we might like to however all in all we had a great time.

Our stay was great! Les, Jackie and Starla are fantastic people. We truly enjoyed how friendly and welcoming everyone is here. It was a total breathe of fresh air. Enjoyed our 2 night stay while we caught trout in Spearfish Creek. The leaves are just starting to turn yellow. The staff and other guests are friendly. A great, relaxing place. Don't forget to check out the stars!

It is our last day at Lakota. We have been here a week and are sad to leave. As soon as we pulled in - we fell in love! What a wonderful place. The scenery - the staff - the other campers - ALL were amazing. My family and I came from all over - SD - Missouri - Minnesota - to meet here for Sturgis. What a great time had by all. We were all over the hills enjoying the sites! :)

This was our first vacation in 15 years. Our son is 17 and our daughter is 13. We wanted a vacation that would allow us to see God's creation and South Dakota was just that place. When we arrived here we were told about the various falls in the area and spent a day hiking and experiencing those. The next day we drove to Rapid City and did the Custer State Park and Mt. Rushmore. My son said this is the best vacation we have ever done. Sorry to have to go home.

We were suppose to stay at Brookside but there was a freak tornado. A huge couple of trees fell onto Brookside and Ranger. We really enjoyed our time in Lakota. We loved playing in the creek even though it was an ice cube. We hiked to Roughlock Falls, it was beautiful. So pretty and well preserved. We had lots of fun here and cant wait to come back! My Grandpa has been coming here since he was 9 and he's 73 now. There is definitely a family tradition.
