We traveled here from Minnesota. We stayed in this cabin for 8 sleeps. Traveled here with our kids and went in the hills side by siding. Beautiful scenery! Loved making breakfast and cuddling by the fire! And the beautiful flow of the brook! Amazing. The time went by fast, the memories are forever.

What a great stay! We were here in Brookside and two of our grown kids and had their new spouses in Stagestop and Elkhorn. Our kids have been coming here since they were born - now bringing spouses! Totally great!
We always make sure to stay here because the hosts and the cabins are the BEST! Enjoy your time here!

We came as friends and left as family. Had a BLAST that was way overdue riding the canyons, gambling in Deadwood, shopping in Sturgis and of course enjoying the brews! The cabin experience was amazing and to have the creek \right outside the back door = AWESOMESAUCE!!! This trip was 1 for the books and memorable as all can be! As always, best place ever! We love the evenings when the camp is buzzing with people and activities and we love when it is quiet and we feel like we are the only ones here. We hope to be back next year with a new addition - grandchild #9. Thanks for another wonderful stay.

We came up with Don and Cathy (shared this cabin) and Ashley (Ranger cabin). This was my first time in SD. James has come through a few times with the military but our first time together with our kiddos. I love these cabins and cant wait to return again. They are away from all of the business of the little town. We really enjoyed all of the quietness we got from this, as much as we could with 5 adults and 6 kids all together. They really enjoyed all of it. The little playground, the campfire and eating outside along with the anticipation to get where were going. We even got to celebrate my little ones birthday here (little man turned 6 years old today) Thank you so much for the new adventures and a place to celebrate a little boys birthday.

We had 18 perople here in 4 cabins, my husband and I, 5 children, 3 in laws, 8 grandchildren. My grands are 4th generation of our family to love this place. <y 7 year old grandson said “I love it here, I’m going to bring my great grandkids here!” We figured that would we around 2097!. Please keep it just like it is for them!

Our family stayed here for a family reunion and had an amazing time. Everyone was so friendly and the cabins were cozy. Kids hiked brown rocks and floated the river. Late night campfire, smores were a hit. We will definitely be back! Thanks for everything! I also packed the journal and brought it back to New Mexico on accident and have to mail it back! WHOOPS!

Wonderful Labor Day Weekend! Our 2nd stay at Wickiup and we love it! Our kid always make new friends and have a blast tubing in the creek, playing on the playground and having bonfires! A beautiful place - we hope to come back next year!

I brought my family to the cabins that my husband and I love. We had an awesome time. We will be returning soon. There is nothing like sharing a big cabin with 10 other people that I love. We celebrated one birthday here as well. There is nothing like a boy turning 6 in a big cabin with a firepit

Our family has been coming here for as long as I can remember. My grandpa first came here in 1949. My grandparents also came here for their honeymoon and they just celebrated their 49th anniversary. This is the first time we have gotten to stay in Brookside and we loved it. We had a lot of fun exploring the area (Custer state park, wind cave, Mt. Rushmore, Hill City, Roughlock Falls, Purple Pie Place and Chubby Chipmunk truffles in Deadwood!) We love it here and cant wait to come back!

Big trout this year on average. Justin won big fish at 15.25” until the last day, ole man river beat me at 19.25”. Breedo ripped one til midnight w less, the outcome was less than favorable. The bystanders thought it was quite humorous. Send off party —saw a couple and kids in tow from Chamberlainn, a couple great kids from Lead. Beers, Spirits and wine flowed but the sadness of the end wasn’t far behind.

This was an awesome stay! The people here are so friendly, loved sleeping next to the stream, also loved the central location at Cheyenne Crossing. My son Scott loves to fish and tried several times with no luck! The rustic cabin is so cool. Les and Jackie are some of the coolest people and I love how they are very involved with everyone and have a lot of life stories we shared! Les was very helpful in locating a ghost town for us "Tinton" over by Iron Creek Lake. Found it, it was barely a town but was cool! Wickiup was recommended by some friends of ours and we are happy they did! Love the bridges, They are very well made. Nice job Les! Didn't make it to Annie Creek Rd. or Devils Bathtub so we have to come back. Darn it! Thanks for a great time!

The cabin is wonderful! Loved sleeping next to the brook. Family had a great time. First trip for grandkids. Return trip (of many) for the rest of us! Will be back.

We had a great time at Brookside. Loved hiking and exploring and driving into Deadwood. The fire hazard was too high for a fire but the heater inside was nice and cozy. It was a nice escape from city life - relaxing vacation.

Our family visited from Brandon, SD. We stayed two night in the cozy beds. We loved the cabin, creek and the village campfires. We all wanted to live here. We loved the playground that was so close as well. There are all nice people around you. If I was a cabin reviewer I would give it a 10 out of 10!

Local's yes we are!! This place is a whole different place, when needed to escape! Thank you! Brookside is excellent in the "breeze" bedroom. Slept well and the creek was great for the pup! Too cold for us!

Happy 4th of July! After about 40 years my husband brought us back to the place he vacationed with his family and we stayed in the very same cabin with our children. It was a fun time and we truly enjoyed all the experiences we had - we fished...my daughter caught a rainbow trout using corn as bait! =) We visited Mt. Rushmore - well worth the 1 hour drive and $11 in parking. We climbed Mt. Harney in Custer State Park and loved it. We ate a great dinner at the Crossing - very good food. Mostly we enjoyed the campground and met new people. My son met a friend and they played every day for hours. It was a great vacation and we loved Brookside.

Well, well, well. We had a wonderful weekend here! :) Very beautiful place and memorable for me. Come for a family reunion with my boyfriend and his family. And what made it more special, my boyfriend, became my fiance! He knelt by the creek with family watching close by and asked me to marry him. What a beautiful ring he got me. Of course, I said YES! :) We are, the family, are going to be Black Hills visitors annually. Thank you for the memory!
