What a fun experience this was! Rustic cabins by a beautiful creek, ATV riding on fun trails, breathtaking views, companionship with the friendly people around us and fires in the fire pit on cold evenings. This was our 1st stay here and we had a great time! We have been to the Hills many times and have stayed with friends or in motels, but this by far outshines the all. Thank you Starla, Jackie, Les and John for making our stay so comfortable and for all you do!!

A great stay with great memories made! The kids loved the games, creek and campfire. We enjoyed the quaint feel of the cabin while also enjoying the running water and electricity. The sound of the creek was so nice too.

Even after 20 years this week doesn't get old. Mountain Meadows has become our home away from home. Many, many memories!! We’ve seen many managers come and go, BUT Jackie and Les, AND, of course, Starla are THE BEST!! Already looking forward to seeing all of you next year!!

A beautiful resort. Starla bent over backwards to get us into this creekside cabin. Beautiful views and soothing sounds. I can’t thank Starla enough. No better place to stay to tour the northern Black Hills, it’s hertiage and Devils Tower. I have a handicap girlfriend and there is a grab bar perfectly positioned for those who need one in the restroom, Great nostalgic cabin. I love this place. I caught my 1st trout on a flyrod, right outside the door. Thank you so much! I’ll be back!

First time at Wickiup. Leaves are turning yellow, and nights require the heat (unless you are used to 55 degree sleeping weather!) . Starla and staff and owners are very kind - cabin is truly a “real thing” cabin but yet with plumbing and electricity. It has been an enjoyable stay and we hope to be back soon.

What a fun, cute and rustic cabin experience. Reminds me of the Parent trap movie! The managers and guests were friendly and the park had a nice bonfire with plenty of chairs. With two young girls, the play area and tubes were a great experience.

08/12 - 08/15/2019 - The Landreths

We planned this trip with our 2 kids. This was a much needed get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We brought our fishing gear and our ATV’s. There is so much that we did in the short days we were here. We had cookouts and campfires with smores in the evening. We saw all the sites in the area. If you ride ATV’s, check out Annie Creek. Another great place to ride your ATV’s is out past Hanna campground. We saw so many deer and small wildlife. This cabin has such a great view. Great people own and manage this place. We found our special place for our family vacays!

08/04 - 08/11/2019 - Karen

My husband and I came with our son and Joe from Missouri. I was so stunned by the beauty of the Black Hills. Our son Neal took us around exploring all the wonderful sites. It was all amazing. We came without a bike but we are leaving with a bike. I loved touring the Needles Highway and seeing the buffalo at Custer Park. Would definitely love to come again! Thank you to Les, Jackie and Starla for the delicious meal. You guys are GREAT!

Joe M. of St. Clair, Missouri here. I am here for my first Rally week. I had always done pre-rally but had to try the REAL PARTY. GREAT! I brought a buddy “Bird Man” along with his mom and dad. They got to see a herd of buffalo in Custer Park and bird man’s mom was ecstatic. On Tuesday the people here gave all the visitors a DEEELICIOUS BBQ. Thank you Les, Jackie and “Super” Starla.

07/22 - 07/27/2019 - The Fetts

This is our 2nd year at Wickiup and 1st time in Mt. Meadows. We are here from Iowa for pre pre rally. The weather was perfect, the riding was amazing as always, but what will always keep us coming back is the people and Wickiup. There is no place on Earth I would rather spend my vacation. Les, Jackie, Starla and John are the best. This place has become home away from home. Can’t wait to be back next year!

Sturgis Rally - 08/06 - 08/10/2018 - Angie, John, Cody and Jason

I rode here with my husband, our son and my husbands best friend. We came from Minneapolis, MN. Every morning we enjoyed our coffee sitting outside watching the sunrise and listening to the stream. We all loved the atmosphere, hospitality and the scenery. We will definitely be back. Funniest moment - I walked across the bridge and 2 does and a buck ran my direction, I ran so fast back to my husband!! Haha Thank you Starla and Family!

1st Day and night - My favorite memory was when I went into the creek. But after I did I fell down in the mud and got stuck. After that we ended up going to Spearfish to go to Walmart so we could have food. But the GPS took us to Wyoming. After that we decided to go to Lead. Now everything is good. I hope you enjoyed my writing. But dont worry Ill be back tomorrow! BTW I met some nice bikers. 2nd day and night….This morning we’re eating cereal. watching the Office and drinking coffee. Now its almost night but we’re having a BBQ. It was fun going tubing down the creek and spear-fishing. This was the best camping trip.

2017 Family Reunion 68 people total and we all had a blast.  The family came from Florida to Alaska and everywhere in between.  The cabins were beautiful and the Black Hills were enjoyable.  Wickiup made this possible.

Les and Jackie, Just wanted to say thank you for the good hospitality and service you provided for us.  This is a very beautiful and relaxing atmosphere for a getaway from home.  The scenery is unbelievably spectacular out here, and just looking into the trees and views just take your breathe away.  your cabins are absolutely beautiful not to mention the cute little creek that runs past it, and listening to it before falling alseep is even the best part of it all.  So thanks again for everything you provided us with.

List of musts, as told by a somewhat frequent visitor:  1) Trout fishing at 5am2) Indian Taco at Cheyenne Crossing (don't get the snack size - live a little) 3)  Carrot cake at Cheyenne Crossing, daily.  4)  Morning Hike down Hanna Creek Road.  5)  Sunday excursion to Moonshine Gulch in Rochford, SD.  Open mic night every Sunday Night6) Afternoon hike to Devils' bathtub.  7)  Alpine Slide in Keystone, followed by a Tatonka Pizza at the Roosevelt Inn.  8) Nightly Beer by the stream.  We love the Wickiup Cabins - may they live on forever :)

Mountain Meadows was great.  We appreciate the Anniversary sign as we walked into the cabin.  Those simple things mean a lot.  We are planning our next trip here and stay longer.  3 days is just not enough.  The Stage Stop on the corner is worth stopping at.  Their cinnamon rolls are dinner plate size.  Thanks again!  P.S. I got to the cabins about an hour ago.  This is my 2nd time here and I happened to see this journal.  I've read all your guys stories and that was all true.  The cabins are special, Wickiup does provide a lot of fun and its a wonderful place to adventure around.  I'm staying here for 3 days and I love to explore and see family here!  We brought our grill and we are going to steaks tonight I'll be telling you more tomorrow.

Thank you for a great stay at Wickiup! Our family had so much fun. Tubing Spearfish creek was such an adventure - cold and a blast!  The campfire at night was a great way to unwind and relax.  It was nice and cool while we were here so it was a nice way to warm up.  We loved our little cabin! It felt like "home sweet home."  Thanks again....we hope to be back soon!

What can I say.  We had an awesome time!  My sister and I went tubing down the creek and it was freezing but it was fun.  My uncle proposed to his girlfriend and we sat by the fire.  It was really fun and I hope we will come back.

I got up about 20 minutes ago.  I am having a great time and want to eat so I'll tell you more after that!  9am - went for a walk with my mom and saw some trout in the water.  My great uncle Bobbi went fishing.  We are going to eat fish for lunch.  I love it here, I'm reading Laura Ingalls Wilder books or in other words Little House on the Prairie books.  I was reading little farmer boy.  When I was on my first book (Little House in the Big Woods) when it was chilly out in my book and they were staying in a cabin.  I felt just like them last night!  I love it here and my grandma Jennifer just got here and I never want to leave.  P.S.  Hi Starla!
